The Vishuis is a collection of iconic fisherman’s cottages right in the heart of Hermanus Old Town. The cottages are situated in a quiet back road, a stone’s throw away from the center of the village. Praise for the Vishuis
Of all the accommodations we stayed in on our trip to South Africa (8 different venues) Marc, the manager of The Vishuis, was most welcoming, most informative and most warm and helpful. We had booked 2 rooms at The Vishuis. The rooms are huge and so well appointed with beautiful art ,designer furnishings and linens. Each room had an espresso coffee machine, bar fridge, large Television with ‘free’ pay TV. We sat by the plunge pool and the lavender gardens, in the beautiful courtyard, each morning to share an al fresco breakfast. Security was excellent and Marc was onsite daily to help us with any information if required.
The Vishuis is beautifully set out, surrounding a plunge pool and cottage garden with 3 self contained rooms, and one beautiful cottage ( cottage has a full kitchen). Off street parking is available. Cafes, Restaurants , food and other shopping are just 2 minutes walk away. The beautiful coast is a 4 minute walk. I will return to The Vishuis and highly recommend this charmingly beautiful place to stay.
Just back from a glorious few days in Hermanus and more particular in The Vishuis – 5 star accommodation, although not officially rated. What a startling surprise when we walked through the front door – sunny, light and open and so beautifully decorated – fabulous art grace the walls. The back yard is another delight waiting.
The well planned gourmet kitchen encouraged us to rather cook than eat out.
Beds, linen and bathrooms are superior.

Met een gezin van 8 met grote kinderen hadden we hoofdappartement plus de drie cottages aan de binnenplaats.
De accomodaties zijn heel erg goed en prima gesitueerd.
Wat het bijzonder maakt is de aandacht die er aan de inrichting en aankleding is gegeven. Overal hangt en ligt kunst, liggen er artistieke boeken en bijzondere snuisterijen en is aan elk detail gedacht.
De houtkachels zorgen voor behaaglijke warmte in de winter. De keuken is bijzonder volledig uitgerust met bijzondere attributen..
Kortom, complimenten voor Marc en bijzonder warm aanbevolen!
Highly recommend — you won’t be disappointed! From soup to nuts, everything was perfect. Communication prior went above and beyond. They assisted in arranging our shark cage trip via text a couple days prior. Check in was super easy and extremely welcoming. To our surprise, they provide breakfast vouchers for some absolutely lovely places in the town, all a block or two away. The rooms are perfect for friends or families. The common space is super for large gatherings. The decorations and art throughout the entire place is exquisite. I’m reticent to speak more about the place as I don’t want it to be all booked up for when we return 😉
